Seasons Keep Changing...

The Seasons in Montana are changing, we are heading from Winter into Spring and i cannot wait, but even though the seasons might be changing, our SBS students are still the same, doing the same thing, studying the Word of God.

This SBS class is a total delight to staff and teach.  They are a class that really loves each other and they love the bible.  It has been so much fun watching the Lord change and transform their lives through His living, breathing word.  The students that arrived here in September will not be the same when they leave here in June, and thats all because of God and what he does with the lives of those that choose to follow him.

I was privileged to be able to teach both the book of Deuteronomy and the book of Judges this quarter to this class.  It was very challenging, but such a joy.  The students were so interactive when I was teaching, and they also asked some amazing questions, that were challenging to answer but it really got the class thinking about what they are studying and the amazing character of God.  The discussion that this class gets involved with is awesome, and it challenges me as a teacher, I learn so much from the stuff that they pull out in their studies.

Another thing that I get to do this year is go on a teaching trip to South Africa.  I will be going to another YWAM base that has a School of Biblical studies and I will be teaching the book of Micah and helping serve in the community in different ways.  I am really excited about going over sees and teaching the Word of God in a different culture and classroom to help gain more experience in teaching so that i can continue to grow in what God has called me to do.

I will post some pictures soon from the last couple months :)

Love you all!

SBS is in full Swing!! Week 4...

Hey All!

The SBS has started and we have hit the ground running.  We have a very full classroom of 51 students from 15 different nations including USA and Canada.  This class is one that is very outgoing, social and FUN!  The last three weeks have been very busy as we have been having morning and night class because we were teaching the students the Inductive Method, which is the method that we use in the School of Biblical Studies to study the bible. The students caught on SO fast, and us as staff have been very proud of them.  Currently we are nose deep in the Gospel of Mark with a guest speaker Don Gillman, who is the base directer of a base in Taiwan.  Don has an incredible gifting of making the Bible become so real and he does a great job inspiring the students to get excited about missions and making God known all over the world.

Personally, I am currently studying the book First Corinthians.  I teach mid November and I am really looking forward to it, First Corinthians is going to be a challenging book but i am really having fun studying and I am excited to tackle the hard passages in the book and get some good discussion going during class :)  I really love this class and I really believe this is going to be an amazing year for not just me personally, but for the students as well.

Here are some pictures :) enjoy....

SBS 2011-12 is almost HERE!!!

Wow, it has been way to long since my last update! My sincere apologies.

So, it is September here in the great state of Montana and the YWAM Base is full of excitement as the new Fall quarter gets closer.  In about a week and a half we will have over 100 new faces from all over the globe to participate in our different schools that we have here.  53 of those new faces will be School of Biblical Studies students, and we as staff are so excited.  This is a big school and we have been scrambling to get the dorm in order and make sure we have enough beds, desks and dressers so that our students will feel right at home for the next 9 months.

We have students coming from all over the globe, its really exciting, we have at least 10 nations being represented in this years SBS, its so awesome that people come from all over the world to Lakeside, Montana to learn more about God and his word.

This Fall quarter I have the privelege of teaching 1st Corinthians and James. I am both really excited and really nervous, 1st Corinthians has a lot of interesting topics in it that are always being looked at, debated and argued over.  I am excited for fresh revelation from God as I study into these difficult topics and I hope that i am able to communicate the heart of the book and what Paul is trying to say to the Church in Corinth.

Please keep me in your prayers, life keeps getting crazier as the school approaches its beginning, and the craziness wont stop until we graduate all 53 of these students next June :)  I am so excited for what God is going to do, and how he is going to transform lives this year, its going to be a great year!

Blessings!

Greetings from a Winter Wonderland!

Hey All!

The snow has arrived in Montana, it has become a daily routine for me to sweep and scrape snow off of my car so that it does not get buried completely :) The last week the weather has been sitting comfortably around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, which feels like tropical weather compared to the blistering temperatures Thanksgiving week which at night would drop into the negatives, and during the day holding strong between 5-7 degrees. You cant wear enough layers for that kind of weather :)

Last week was Thanksgiving and I was truly blessed to be able to spend it with good friends here, as well as some students that did not return home for the break. There was 16 people in total enjoying the festivities of Thanksgiving, and like all thanksgivings the food was awesome. After the four day weekend for thanksgiving the students were in class bright and early Morning with their noses deep into Hebrews. We all got the privilege this week to hear Ron Smith, the founder of the School of Biblical Studies, teach on Hebrews. And like always, it was very challenging, and awesome to see God move throughout Ron's teaching and the students individual studies as well.

God continues to teach, and bring revelation about his word and his character to the students, as well as us staff :) It has been an awesome first quarter. There are just four books left for the students this quarter, one of which I will be teaching. On December 8th i will be teaching 1 Timothy, and I have a mix of emotions about it because there is some very challenging verses in there, but it is also such a powerful book that challenges believers to stand strong in Sound Doctrine of Jesus, and what he teaches. God has really blessed my study times as well as made certain things very clear that he wants to communicate to this group of students. I am really looking forward to teaching again, after teaching Philippians I realized it is not as scary as I once thought. I really enjoy it, and it has been nice to see that it is also something that God has gifted me in.

It has been a joy to be walking in the things that the Lord has planned for me, he has called me to this place in life, and I very blessed and privileged to be used by him in any way that he asks. YWAM Montana has been a place that challenges me and blesses me all at the same time. Daily I am learning more about God, and more about myself and how much I need God. I am surrounded by people that daily challenge me in my own walk with the Lord, and daily I am able to challenge others in their walks with the Lord. Days can be hard, busy, and challenging but I know God is with me, and I am genuinely filled with joy for the things that I get to do and take part in.

Thanks to all of you who pray for and support me in the ministry that God has called me too.

Here are some current prayer needs that you can be praying for:

I am still in need of Monthly Support I am about half way to my goal.
We have students that do not have all of their finances, pray for them :)
My travels home for Christmas, I will be going over 3 total mountain passes.
Health, its that time of year where people get sick.
Teaching 1 Timothy Dec. 8, that i would be an empty vessel to be used by God.

Thanks so much for your prayers! And taking the time to read this update.

Blessings,
Sally Jo
